Peter Gabriel - SOPHIA GARDENS CD

Shortly before the release of his third solo album, Peter Gabriel embarked on a mini-tour of the U.K. that began in Exeter on 20th February 1980 and ended in Bath mid-March. The tour served as a teaser of sorts for the upcoming LP and offered an opportunity to see Gabriel flesh out the new songs in a live setting before touring the album worldwide in July.One of the finest shows played on this short tour was at Sophia Gardens Pavilion in Cardiff, Wales, on 7th March 1980, a set that was also recorded for live radio transmission. Playing a quite sensational show that featured 9 new songs from the forthcoming album, along with a smattering of classics and a fascinating version of ‘We Do What We're Told (Milgram's 37)’ (that would not see release until 1986’s So), Peter Gabriel was in scintillating form throughout the night. Previously unreleased, this excellent live document of Peter Gabriel in his ascendancy is now available on this CD for the first time.
