Ice cold and crystal clear black metal from the land of the midnight sun. Iskald shines like aurora borealis on the northern black metal hemisphere. Hailing from Sortland in the northern part of Norway, these two young boatmen have crafted out what will most likely stand out as a future classic within the genre. Fuelled by the devotion to Norse mythology and the inspiration of the artic surroundings, founding members Simon Larsen (19) and Aage A Krekling (19), started up their black metal project, Iskald in early 2005. After a few demos, the first EP Northern Twilight, was completed by the end of the year. The EP was self financed and the pressing was limited to 400 copies and was soon to be a valuable collectors item. In September 2006 Iskald entered Ballerina Audio (Vintersorg, Naglfar) to record their full length debut; Shades of Misery. This time the band wanted to use a professional studio and to give the material the sound and expression it deserved. A pre-production was done before entering the studio and the album was recorded in 14 days. At its peak, Shades Of Misery hits you like a snow blizzard, and at its most melodic - the brilliant riffs sends ice cold shivers down your spine.
