Heavens’ are a human invention in the end – just like ‘Hell’. All the definitions are based on the desire of mankind to escape from reality and find a safe space that works as a counterpart to the hellish life we have to live. But let’s face our habits: “Down The Heavens”. 11 years after their last full-length album “And Babylon Fell”, DISPARAGED return with a new death metal magnum opus. “Down The Heavens” starts with some silent breathing before ‘Among The Chosen Ones’ burns all ashes down with its brutal drums and fast guitar patterns, which is just one facet of DISPARAGED’s songwriting skills. ‘The Throne’ lives up to its name with an anthemic guitar solo section and ‘Drown In Madness’ keeps the brutality level intact, but adds an irresistible groove to it. While ‘The Bridge’ calms the storm down for a moment with acoustic guitars and keyboard soundscapes, the following ‘Sole Survivor Of The Flames’ seems even more haunting and epic. The album also features two illustrious guests: Andy LaRocque (King Diamond) and Damir Eskic (Destruction) add their own unique flavors to ‘Another Day’ and the title track. “Down The Heavens” shows that death metal can be relentless and versatile at the same time. Ralph Beier (guitars), Tom Kuzmic (guitars and vocals), Heinz Imhof (drums) and Reto Hardmeier (bass) created a must for all extreme metal lunatics.
