Eric Clapton’s ninth studio album, Behind The Sun, co-produced by Phil Collins and released in March 1985, was largely inspired and informed by his now troubled marriage to Pattie Boyd – the woman who, 15 years previously, had aroused Clapton to compose many of his most cherished love songs, not least the majestic ‘Layla’.The Behind The Sun tour was featured at the first Live Aid concert on July 13th 1985, where ‘She's Waiting’ from the new record rubbed shoulders with ‘White Room’ and the aforementioned ‘Layla’. Recorded for live FM radio broadcast, three weeks before Live Aid, Clapton performed in Canada at Ontario’s Kingswood’s Theatre on June 21st ’85, where he and his entourage put on one of the finest shows of the entire tour. Featuring a top-drawer band comprised largely of musicians who appeared on the album in the studio - including former Joe Cocker keyboardist Chris Stainton, ex-Fairport Convention guitarist Tim Renwick, Little Feat vocalist Shaun Murphy and Donald "Duck" Dunn, bassist from the legendary Booker T. & The M.G.s.
