With a long discography in over 35 years of career, Grave Digger are one of the most longaeval and appreciated band devoted to classic and true HM. To mark their 30th anniversary, Grave Digger invited on stage at the Wacken Open Air 2010, as special guests, Doro Pesch, Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian) and Van Canto to join in the celebration of “Tunes of War” album, performing it live in its entirety. The amazing reaction of the fans and the outstanding chemistry of the guests involved led to record “Ballad Of Mary” in 2011. The 5-track release features, re-recorded, the resilient and timeless "Rebellion" featuring Hansi Kürsch and Van Canto in a supporting role. The performance of metal queen Doro and Van Canto bestow the beautiful "The Ballad of Mary" not only a fresh approach, but also new found depth. The track ends on a longer and more symphonic note and is available also in unplugged version. Both tracks originally from “Tunes of War” (1996) shine in renewed splendour. The other tracks are "Highland Farewell" and "Coming Home" (both from “The clans will rise again” – 2010) in their instrumental versions with additional choral arrangements that build up to an epic climax.
